College Guidance Overview
The college guidance program helps students identify colleges
and universities that best match their needs and abilities,
and assists them through the college admissions process. We
have three experienced and dedicated full-time college counselors
who chart the course that culminates in a most appropriate
choice and college acceptance for each student. The counselors
encourage students to pursue the strongest academic program
appropriate for them and to develop special talents or interests
beyond the classroom.
Although the "formal" college search begins during
the junior year, the process truly begins when a student enters
Country Day. Beginning with the transition to Upper School,
our faculty advisors and counselors work with students to select the appropriate
courses that maximize their potential. Programs are given
throughout the year for students and parents on topics ranging
from the college admissions process to financial aid.
Ninth-and tenth-grade students are encouraged to concentrate
on establishing their academic record. Additionally, this
is the appropriate time to review standardized test scores.
PSAT results provide information that can be used to help
improve performance on subsequent tests.
